About

Welcome to Mushroomination.

Passionate about mushrooms and fungal ecology, I believe they have a lot to teach us in many ways; about ecology, about beauty and more widely about how, as humans, we operate in the world.

I grew up in Yorkshire, England, I now live in rural County Kildare in the Republic of Ireland. I landed here via living briefly in Sicily & Malta, Scotland and Dublin.

I was inspired to create a blog sharing what I know and learn about fungus and mycology. My passion started as a small curiosity for those glints of colour and strange formations that are spotted on a walk, hiding in the undergrowth or boldly protruding at the side of a path. The more I read and learned about fungus, the more I was hooked and fascinated with their diversity; how they shape our ecosystems and habitats; how integral they are for soil health; their resilience and unique qualities compared to other living plants or animals and what they can teach us humans about how to live in productive communities in harmony with the natural world and each other. I invite you into my world and to learn with me as I explore the mycosphere.
